Australian Housing demand rising the fastest in 3 years thanks to population growth

The annual population growth in Australia increased to 1.75% over the December 2012 quarter on the back of higher migration rates and a record number of births.

The national population growth has continued to expand at a rapid rate across Australia with 394,200 new Australian residents recorded over the 2012 calendar year.

The latest demographic figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) shows the national population at 22.9 million residents at the end of 2012.

A more recent estimate of the current population can be seen in the ABS Population Clock which is currently indicating a national population of 23.094 million residents.

The largest number of migrants are arrivals from China, India, New Zealand, followed by the United Kingdom and with the birth and immigration rates constantly accelerating it is pushing the demand for investment properties and in particular housing, as many of the new arrivals and young couples in the Australian communities need housing for their growing families.

This of course is very good news for investors securing housing portfolio's who are simply sitting back and watching their assets multiply with the help of their tenants.
